Discovering Yemen – Multimedia Resources

Located at the southern tip of the Arabian Peninsula, the country of Yemen is among the poorest in the Middle East. Yemen's 23 million inhabitants face chronic shortages in water, employment, and effective governance. The product of decades in which central authority was nonexistent and the country was effectively split into northern and southern halves, today Yemen is again united, but continues to grapple with a host of potentially destabilizing challenges. In the last decade, new developments have put Yemen in the international spotlight, as terrorist groups like al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula carry out bold attacks from their bases in the country.
