Charlene Barshefsky

Ambassador Charlene Barshefsky is the Senior International Partner at WilmerHale. Barshefsky, who served as US Trade Representative from 1997-2001, is known internationally as the architect and chief negotiator of China's historic World Trade Organization (WTO) Agreement. In her capacity as US Trade Representative she was also involved in global agreements in financial services, telecommunications, intellectual property rights, high-technology products, and cyberspace. Her 25-year legal career has encompassed international litigation, commercial negotiations, investment and regulatory advice, and dispute resolution. In 2007, Barshefsky was chosen as one of the National Law Journal's "50 Most Influential Women Lawyers in America," and she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Chambers & Partners for her contributions to the legal profession. Barshefsky received her B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a J.D. from The Catholic University of America.
