AAM announces weekly series with Afghanistan's largest channel
At an event at the National Press Club on May 8th, America Abroad Media (AAM) and Moby Media group in Afghanistan announced the launch of a weekly public interest program, recorded in the United States for broadcast throughout Afghanistan. This groundbreaking half-hour show will inform a nationwide Afghan audience about critical issues, domestic and foreign, featuring interviews with leading Afghan and American officials and experts, as well as professionals involved in fields ranging from public health to agriculture to arts and entertainment.
"We're very excited to be working with America Abroad Media," said Moby Media Group CEO Saad Mohseni. "I think it's very important to reconnect Afghanistan to the outside world, and to get weekly perspectives from Washington. I think it's going to be mind-opening for most Afghans. We're very excited about this particular project, and I think AAM and Moby can co-produce some very interesting shows in the coming years.""Moby Media and Tolo TV have completely transformed the media landscape in Afghanistan," said Aaron Lobel, President of AAM. "It's people like the Mohsenis who are rebuilding Afghanistan. They and the journalists who work with them are taking real risks to build a free and independent and viable media in their country. We at AAM are excited to partner with them to produce a high quality program that will inform and educate the Afghan people."
The show will be hosted by Afghan-American Mariam A. Nawabi. Ms. Nawabi is General Counsel and Strategic & Business Development Director for AMDi Inc. and a Founding Member of the Afghanistan Advocacy Group. "I am honored to be hosting this innovative new program," said Ms. Nawabi. "As an Afghan-American who has worked on issues related to Afghanistan for many years, I believe media can play an important role in building knowledge and understanding between the Afghan and American people.
