KHALILZAD, GELB JOIN AAM ADVISORY BOARD
America Abroad Media (AAM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad and Ambassador Bruce Gelb to the AAM Advisory Board, effective January 14, 2010.
Khalilzad and Gelb join a dynamic and bipartisan group of policymakers who help support AAM’s mission and programming.

Khalilzad is currently Chairman and CEO of Khalilzad Associates, an international advisory firm. He formerly served as U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan, to Iraq, and to the United Nations. From 2001 to 2003 Khalilzad was the Special Presidential Envoy to Afghanistan. He was Director of the Strategy, Doctrine and Force Structure program for Project Air Force at RAND, where he also founded the Center for Middle Eastern Studies. Khalilzad is the author of more than 200 books, articles, reports and studies. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, and master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon.
Gelb, former Ambassador to Belgium and to the United States Information Agency, currently serves as Co-Chair of the Council of American Ambassadors. From 1994-1997 he was Commissioner for the United Nations, Consular Corps and International Business for New York City. Prior to his career in public service, Gelb was a Vice Chairman of the Board of Bristol-Myers Company, now Bristol-Myers Squibb. Gelb holds a B.A. from Yale, an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, and an honorary Ph.D. from the Monterey Institute of International Studies.
