America Abroad Media Launches “Beyond the Broadcast” Discussion Series

Inaugural Panel focused on U.S. Foreign Assistance

America Abroad Media (AAM) announces the launch of Beyond the Broadcast, a new panel discussion series that brings together policymakers and experts for an off-the-record analysis of critical international issues.

Beyond the Broadcast events are timed to coincide with the release of AAM’s monthly public radio program, America Abroad, and provide an opportunity for further investigation into the issues presented in each show.

AAM kicked off the Beyond the Broadcast series with a lunchtime panel discussion on U.S. foreign assistance, held at The Cohen Group on December 10. Ambassador Marc Grossman moderated the conversation. Carol Lancaster, Jim Kolbe, and Andrew Natsios served as panelists.

Participants discussed the challenges facing USAID and U.S. foreign assistance, drawing on issues and field reports from America Abroad’s December broadcast, Arrested Development: Short-Changing Foreign Aid.

“The Beyond the Broadcast series encourages candid conversation on, and in-depth analysis of, the most pressing issues in international affairs,” said Aaron Lobel, founder and President of AAM. “We are pleased to offer this forum to the Washington community, and delighted that our public radio programs can serve as a springboard for discussion among leading policymakers.”
