Program/Field Producer, America Abroad Radio
America Abroad Media is seeking a Program/Field Producer for its internationally distributed (PRI) monthly public radio program that provides in-depth analysis of foreign policy and international affairs. The goal of the program is to provide balance, depth and context to major global issues.
We are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated individual with strong radio production and journalism skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced, deadline focused environment.
The Program/Field Producer reports to the President/Executive Producer and handles major pre- and post-production responsibilities from conceptualizing program topics, identifying interviewees, screening and pre-interviewing, drafting segment scripts, audio production and editing, and producing Web content.
The position also requires extensive international travel and field production work. The candidate should be skilled at preparing for and conducting trips to produce field segments, conducting research, interviewing guests, gathering audio, and mixing field segments.
Required Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in journalism or similar field/ MA preferred.
• 4 years experience in broadcast production, public radio preferred.
• 2 years extensive experience in editing radio interviews and writing long-form scripts, preferably for an hour-long format program.
• Extensive experience producing on Cool Edit, ProTools or similar broadcast digital audio workstations, and editing in-depth interviews.
• Extensive experience with field production applications and equipment including FTP applications, audio conversion software, portable recording devices, microphones, and laptop computers.
• Strong knowledge of international affairs, foreign language skills and extensive travel experience preferred.
This is a detail-oriented job that requires both strong radio production skills as well as organizational and administrative skills and a knowledge of world affairs.
Salary will be commensurate with experience.

ASSOCIATE PRODUCER - AAM TELEVISION
AAM is seeking an Associate Producer to assist the expanding television team in its varied international television productions. Television programming includes a weekly public affairs program for Tolo TV, Afghanistan’s largest station; a Journalism Fellowship program which brings leading television broadcasters from the Muslim world to the US for several weeks to produce a special series of programs for prime time broadcast on their home network; and international town meetings and other programs for our partners in Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Germany.
We are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated individual with strong research and journalism skills to become part of a production team. The Associate Producer will work with the Executive Producer, Senior Producer, current Associate Producer, and hosts to research and identify weekly topics, book guests, provide background materials and suggested interview questions for hosts, coordinate scripts, book and coordinate ENG crews, arrange field and studio shoots, select relevant tape and interview material for each program and assist in editing for broadcast. The Associate Producer handles pre- and post-production responsibilities, including but not limited to coordinating with the crew on all taping, studio logistics and satellite transmissions. The Associate Producer will also work to identify future Journalism Fellows and coordinate their visits and programming. Limited travel involved.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in international affairs, journalism, television production, or related field.
- 2-3 years experience in television production and demonstrated interest in international affairs.
- Working knowledge of Final Cut Pro helpful.

America Abroad Media (AAM)is looking for creative, enthusiastic and conscientious interns to assist in the production of AAM Radio and AAM Television.AAM Intern
America Abroad Media (AAM) is a non-profit organization dedicated to harnessing the power of media to inform America and the world about the critical international issues of our time. AAM produces a monthly documentary program for National Public Radio stations and television programming that broadcasts on leading channels in the Muslim world.The mission of AAM is to inform and educate the public about international affairs and elevate the quality of our public discourse through in-depth and thoughtful radio and television programming.
AAM is looking for creative, enthusiastic and conscientious interns to assist in the production of AAM Radio and AAM Television.
Responsibilities:
- Assist day-to-day operations of AAM Radio, conduct archival research for history and eyewitness segments;
- Conduct research on topical international relations issues;
- Assist with AAM Television as needed;
- Contribute to AAM Radio and AAM Television media and public relations efforts;
- Carry out some administrative duties;
- Work 20-40 hours per week.
- Applicant must have completed or be in pursuit of a B.A. in international relations, political science, history, journalism or related field;
- Interest in public diplomacy, American foreign policy, and media;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to work independently.
Development Intern
AAM is looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented intern to assist in the development department. Intern work will include: donor research, writing and editing of development publications, tracking incoming and existing gifts and grants, and carrying out some administrative duties.Responsibilities:
- Assist day-to-day development operations at America Abroad Media;
- Contribute to database management;
- Carry out donor research, including foundation, corporation, and individuals;
- Assist with the writing and editing of development publications, including reports, letters, and proposals;
- Work 10-20 hours per week.
- Applicant must be in pursuit of a B.A. in sociology, political science, history, journalism or related field;
- Interest in development and non-profit management;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to work independently.
