R. James Woolsey is Venture Partner and Senior Advisor at VantagePoint, Senior Executive Advisor at Booz Allen Hamilton, and Of Counsel at Goodwin Procter LLP. Woolsey is currently Annenberg Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Hoover Institute at Stanford University. Woolsey was Vice President in the Global Strategic Security practice at Booz Allen Hamilton from 2002 to 2008. Woolsey served in the US government on five different occasions. He was director of Central Intelligence from 1993 to 1995, prior to which he was Ambassador to the Negotiation on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe in Vienna. Woolsey was Delegate at Large to the US-Soviet Strategic Arms Reduction Talks and Nuclear and Space Arms Talks from 1983-1986. He served as General Counsel to the Senate Committee on Armed Services from 1970 to 1973 and became Under Secretary of the Navy in 1977, a position he held until 1979. He is currently co-chairman of the Committee on the Present Danger, a trustee of the Center for Strategic & Budgetary Assessments, and chairman of the advisory boards for the Clean Fuels Foundation and the New Uses Council. Woolsey received a B.A. from Stanford University (1963), his M.A. from Oxford University (Rhodes Scholar 1963-1965), and an LL.B from Yale Law School (1968).
