David Gergen

David Gergen is the Director of the Center for Public Leadership at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, as well as a Professor of Public Service. Gergen served in the Clinton administration from 1993 to 1995, first as Counselor to the President and then as Special Adviser to the President and the Secretary of State. He served as Director of Communications for President Reagan and also held positions in the administrations of Presidents Nixon and Ford. He began a career in journalism in the mid-1980s with U.S. News and World Report and remains editor at large for the publication. Gergen serves on the board of the Aspen Institute, Duke University, the Center for Global Development, the National Committee on US-China Relations, and Teach for America. He is author of Eyewitness to Power: The Essence of Leadership from Nixon to Clinton. Gergen served three years with the US Navy. He is a graduate of Yale University and Harvard Law School, and holds 13 honorary degrees.
