David Gergen

David Gergen is a professor of public service and Director of the Center for Public Leadership at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. He served in the Clinton administration from 1993 to 1995, first as Counselor to the President and then as Special Adviser to the President and the Secretary of State. He served as director of communications for President Reagan and also held positions in the administrations of Presidents Nixon and Ford. He has worked as a journalist, serving as editor-at-large at U.S. News and World Report, contributor to The News Hour with Jim Lehrer, and as moderator of The World at Large with David Gergen. He is the author of Eyewitness to Power: The Essence of Leadership from Nixon to Clinton. Mr. Gergen received his B.A. with honors from Yale University, attended the Harvard Law School and served three years in the U.S. Navy. He is on the board of several organizations including the Center for Global Development, the American Political Science Association and Teach for America.
